I hand carved these wax models with trees, a bear, crescent moons and the constellation Ursa Major, also known as Big Bear, Big Dipper, or in Norwegian Karlsvogna.
The wax models were cast using the lost wax technique, where all the wax is burned away and molten metal poured into the mold, so the end product is solid metal all the way through.
I made a mold of these rings, so I can duplicate them in any size. I resize the wax models by hand, so I can add trees where needed, and make sure the forest pattern looks seamless all the way around the ring.
